Standardizing EDO in Ukraine: Key Obstacles for Companies

Ukrainian businesses face difficulties due to the lack of a unified standard for electronic document management systems, hindering inter-company interactions.

Ukrainian businesses face a significant hurdle in electronic document management due to the lack of platform compatibility. Companies are forced to register on multiple different EDM services just to exchange documents with various counterparties, as there is currently no unified technical standard for data exchange in the private sector.

This fragmentation leads to increased operational costs and wastes valuable time on manual processing and duplicate registrations. Furthermore, it slows down the overall pace of digitalization and complicates collaboration, preventing businesses from achieving maximum process transparency and speed.

To overcome these barriers, government intervention is required to harmonize technical standards and establish a unified information space. Implementing a single standard will enable seamless interaction between different EDM systems, optimizing business processes.

From an environmental perspective, resolving these compatibility issues is crucial because a seamless, standardized digital workflow accelerates the complete transition away from paper. Eliminating physical document duplication directly reduces paper consumption, saves forest resources, and lowers the carbon footprint associated with printing and transporting physical archives.
